Our spices
They are primarily harvested in Madagascar, where the soil and climate give the flavors a rare intensity. Cloves, wild Voatsiperifery pepper, turmeric. Each spice is selected for its freshness and authenticity.
Madagascar spices: raw flavours harvested at source
Madagascar is one of the world’s most bountiful sources of spices. Its volcanic soil, forests, and humid tropical climate give the spices that grow there an aromatic intensity that is hard to match. At Kintavolana, we pass on a legacy to you—that of Malagasy farming families who have cultivated and harvested these treasures for generations.
Raw, uncompromising spices
Our spices are selected in their most authentic form: non-irradiated, with no additives or artificial flavors. From cloves harvested in northern Madagascar, to wild Voatsiperifery pepper, to Bourbon vanilla, each product carries the richness of a preserved terroir.
How do we use our spices in cooking?
Our spices blend naturally into a wide variety of recipes:
- The Madagascar vanilla enhances your desserts, creams and pastries, as well as certain savory sauces and marinades.
- The clove perfumes broths, tajines, gingerbreads and hot drinks such as mulled wine or chai tea.
- The Voatsiperifery pepper – wild pepper endemic to Madagascar – brings woody, fruity and slightly lemony notes, ideal for grilled meats, cheeses or carpaccios.
- The Madagascar curry colors and flavors rice, legumes, poultry and simmered dishes.
- The pink berries add a delicate, floral touch to fish dishes, salads or chocolate desserts.
- The Ceylon cinnamonmilder than Cassia cinnamon, can be used in morning porridge, lamb tagine or fruit compote.
Why choose Kintavolana spices?
We are a Franco-Malagasy family business, directly linked to the producers. This means short supply chains, real traceability and fresh, powerful spices, without the months of storage that degrade aromas. Each order is shipped from Europe, in compliance with European standards, while preserving the natural essence of each spice. Buying our spices also means supporting European trade and ethical Malagasy agriculture, as part of a fair trade approach that promotes traditional know-how.
